Fishing Report for July 23, 2015 – Western Long Island Sound

PORT WASHINGTON - WESTERN SOUND FISHING REPORT.            This past week has shown all points with structure producing a good amount of porgies. The fluke bite has been off and on with most fish being caught in deeper waters than the prior weeks. Squid with gulp has worked well limiting the amount of Sea Robins. Squid and Spearing have worked well but Sea Robins will be coming hooked more often using the Squid combo. A few Bass have been landed up to 20 lbs but they too have moved to deeper waters. Bass have been caught under some of the bunker pods out in the Sound. Also schoolies  can still be picked up using poppers, rubber shads and sand worms at all points. Bluefish caught on Bunker have been taken to 10lbs in this area with bigger fish east of here. Sea Bass are also showing up but for the most part a bit east of here too.

Fishing Report for May 11, 2015 – Western Long Island Sound

The striper fishing in the western sound has picked up a bit this past week. As mentioned in last weeks report, with warmer weather the bigger bass are moving in and more keepers will be around. Quite a few fisherman reported catching Bass between 28"-30".  Remember one fish per day, minimum 28".  Plenty of bunker still in the bays. We're looking to see even bigger Bass move in over the next two weeks.
